Future Developments

The Bermagui Sewerage Augmentation study (MHL734 1995) proposed the following although the exact status of this augmentation and the areas still to be sewered in the future is uncertain at this stage.

  • future flows would be delivered at up to 85 L/s with a daily duration of 22 hours in 2016 in the peak summer period.

  • the reclaimed water treatment be upgraded with disinfection, possibly by UV irradiation, to achieve a 90%ile faecal coliform bacteria concentration of 200 counts per 100mL.

  • nutrient treatment to be improved so that total phosphorus was to be reduced to a 90%ile concentration of 1 mg/L.

  • possible upgrade of the outfall involving a 100mm nozzle discharging below low water in the vicinity of the existing outfall.
